"Albuquerque, snorkel, see I can do it too."

August 7, 2017

We took a trip to Albuquerque with Presidente Silva to visit La Castilla de Luna, and it was awesome. There was a guy there to give us a tour of practically the whole thing. So, come with me on this picture-filled journey through time ;)

The beginning of our tour.

Inner Castle.
1. Taken from the corner of the inner courtyard. The drawbridge in the upper left corner leads to the place where the "important" people lived.
2. Chamber in the tower visible in the bridge picture. The acoustics in the room work to that if you whisper in the corner, someone standing in a different corner will hear you perfectly. It was crazy.

Let's start with the Patio de Almas. This is the Patio de Almas. That's about it.

Just kidding. This is more or less the main part of the fort and the layer closest to the inner castle. Notice how the corner stones on that tower are perfectly aligned. I thought that was pretty cool.

Top of the Fort.
On the top of the tower visible in the bridge pic. Here are some of the most important battlements.
1.Gaps to shoot arrows from.
2. Placement for early cannons.

Of all the defenses, this is by far the most important.
The latrine.
What do you get when you cross a 19 year old with a toilet centuries old?
This. You get this.

1. (no caption necessary)

2. "¡Toma Portugal!"

1. The previously shown bridge
2. "That ain't New Mexico" (the political border of Spain and Portugal is toward the horizon)

If You Can't Take the Heat...
...take pictures of the kitchen. This is right below that main hall. Cooks would hang meats from those wooden pegs to smoke them. The bricks would heat up very quick and act as central heating for the tower.

Inside the main tower.
1. "Should've taken that left at Albuquerque."
2. First room of the tower (The doorways were quite short)
3. The main hall place thing.

The inside of the church part of the fort. (Door to the right in the Patio de Almas picture)

And that concludes our tour of La Castilla de Luna!
