Lemon Bars, Limpieza, and Lasers
April 30, 2018
This week was actually pretty full of various plans mainly involving service of some kind. Starting with Tuesday, I decided to make some lemon bars for the Family Home Evening we had planned with some members. Unfortunately, the plan fell through because the very nice member lady hosting it had some unexpected, radical, dental treatment and she wasn't doing too hot. The treats were already made, so we decided to drop them off at her home and the home of Johnny and Jenni (Jenni is pregnant and was hardcore craving lemon bars when I mentioned them the day before). That day we also made some Chick-fil-a chicken for lunch via a recipe from Elder Wiseman which, I guess was pretty authentic. I've never been. It tasted good and that's all that matters.
Wednesday we met with young José (miracle WhatsApp dude from last week) and old José. Young José just had a million very productive and intuitive questions about the Gospel, the Church, the scriptures, the guy has done his research. It went really well, and it was cool actually being able to confidently answer and discuss each subject. There was definitely some help and guidance from the Spirit. It was a good discussion and we're still having a lot of contact over the phone. In the afternoon we got to meet with José and get stuff figured out with the community service stuff. At the worst, he'll have to wait until his month or so of community service is done before he can be baptized, but we're talking with President Andersen, and there's a chance that he doesn't even have to wait due to his lack of parole. It's weird. After that, we helped wash a member's car (more service!), then went and played soccer with the ward.
Thursday consisted of weekly planning, then taking a train down to Málaga for zone conference on Friday! The train was a nice change of venue.
On Friday we had zone conference, but beforehand, a bunch of elders met up and played a fun game of basketball for morning exercise. Shout out to Elder Van Moos' ballin' skillz. We then got ready and went to the conference. It was a good one! But also a very looong one. I was starting to dip in and out of consciousness toward the end. When it ended, we dinked around with mission friends, ate some Taco Bell for second lunch, then bussed alll the way back, arriving in Jaén during the late-nighty times.
As we headed out on Saturday, we got a call from members reminding us that we were on the chapel cleaning crew for the week, so we rushed over and helped. It's a good thing we did that too, because there were just two older members there doing it because no one else could come. As we finished up cleaning, the bishop's wife came running into the church with sandwich-making materials talking about how she needed to go to work in an hour, and make lunch for the primary activity going on at the castle, so we became part of a sandwich making station for a bit as well. In the evening time we were going to have dinner with Johnny and Jenni then have them accompany us to a visit with Chari 'cause they're next door neighbors. Unfortunately, the Chari part of the night fell through, but we still had our American dinner of Navajo Tacos. Mmm. They're good people.
Sooo yeah! We kept ourselves pretty busy this week. And I'm a bit over time :P
Elder Jensen :)
(Nothing related to lasers happened this week, but I needed a third L word)
